Magnus Environmental & Safety Consultants (MESC) is an Irish company formed by Environmental Engineer Richard Mc Elroy. Richard has over 15 years extensive experience in the environmental, health & safety sector. He has worked in numerous industries such as construction, manufacturing, quarrying and mining in Ireland and overseas in Africa.

Our mission is to improve our clients’ environmental, health & safety performance in a cost effective and practical way while meeting all relative standards and the clients compliance needs. MESC carries a comprehensive suite of monitoring equipment equipped to monitor Air Quality, Noise & Vibration and Water Quality amongst other environmental and occupational parameters.

MESC offers Health & Safety training for all sectors and will work with the client in compiling the Risk Assessments & Method Statements required for their specific operation.

Air Quality Monitoring

We undertake the full range of air quality monitoring including stack emission monitoring, ambient air quality monitoring, occupational air quality monitoring and indoor air quality monitoring. We can also install, commission and monitor air quality monitoring stations including weather stations with the capability of remote log in and alarm notifications.

Noise Monitoring

We will monitor and assess all environmental & occupational noise for all industries including construction, quarrying and manufacturing. Our noise monitoring equipment has the capability of remote log in and alarm notifications.

Vibration Monitoring

We can provide vibration monitoring and assessment for all transport, construction, blasting and plant operations. We use state of the art vibration monitoring equipment. Our Vibration monitoring equipment has the capability of remote log in and alarm notifications.

We will install and monitor all the water quality parameters including flow for all industries as part of their discharge licence or requirements. Our water quality monitoring has the capability of remote log in and alarm notifications

Health & Safety

Safety Statements

We can prepare or review your Safety Statement which will represent a commitment to your organisations safety and health. It will state how the employer will ensure their safety
and health and state the resources necessary to maintain and review safety and health laws and standards.

Method Statements/Risk Assessment

We can offer employers the development of a Method Statement with Risk Assessment. This involves a written document with the step-by-step activity of the task involved and also assessing the risk that could cause harm to your employees, other employees and other people.

Safety & Health Plans

We can offer the service of preparing both preliminary Safety and Health plans at the design stage and the Safety and Health Plan for the construction stage of the project.

Safety Audits

A safety audit is a snap shot of the safety performance of an organisations safety management system. The organisations performance is reviewed and rated. Recommendations are given if needed for improvements.

Training

MANUAL HANDLING

It is now compulsory to be trained in Manual Handling along with a Safe Pass for working in any industry. We can offer manual handling training to staff which will last for 3 years.

ABRASIVE WHEELS

Our Abrasive Wheel Training is a half day course designed to provide the course learners with the appropriate knowledge of the hazards & dangers when working with Abrasive Wheels.

MOBILE ELEVATED WORKING PLATFORM – MEWP

Our MEWP Training more commonly known as Scissors and Boom lift course, is designed for operators who do not hold a certificate or whose certification needs refreshing.

WORKING AT HEIGHTS

Our Working At Heights Course will provide participants with the necessary qualifications to inspect their Harness & Lanyard Systems and the skills and knowledge in safely Working At Heights practices.

GA1 - Thorough Examination

We carry out inspection of Lifting equipment, chains, slings, hooks, working at height safety equipment and all other lifting accessories. Thorough Examinations are carried out in accordance with legislation every 6 months.

Scail Agriculture

Screening for IED applications, EIAs or Appropriate Assessments to estimate the effect of an agricultural emission (e.g. poultry shed) on a habitat (e.g. SSSI). This estimate can then be used to determine the exceedance or non-exceedance of the habitat’s impact limit and will help users in deciding whether more detailed modelling or site specific investigation is required.
Inclination-tilt-monitoring

Inclination (Tilt) Monitoring

Inclination (Tilt) monitoring for a client in Co Donegal. Excavation was taken place below the ground floor level to the rear of exiting buildings. In total five Tilt sensors were installed along the rear of the existing buildings as a precaution where the buildings to move. The sensors are connected to a base station that would send out emails and SMS texts if there was movement.

The noise monitor is capable of running of external battery and solar. All data can be viewed remotely.
